El 15 de diciembre finalizó el primer plazo para la presentación de resúmenes. Hasta este momento hemos recibido un total de 370 propuestas de comunicaciones. Muchas gracias a todas las personas que han presentado comunicaciones.

Haciéndonos eco de las peticiones que hemos recibido para presentar nuevas comunicaciones, abrimos un segundo plazo de presentación de resúmenes hasta el 31 de enero de 2011.

The school provides introductory and advanced graduate training in linguistics, with 18 courses in different domains, spread over two weeks. Courses are two hours per day, for five days, and can be taken for partial credit (without paper) or full credit (with submission of a paper after the course). OTHER ACTIVITIES

In each week of the Summer School, there will be a welcoming reception, a poster session, an invited evening lecture and a restaurant dinner. The venue also offers several leisure and sporting facilities.

During the weekend in the middle of the Summer School, there will be a social program for the participants registered for both weeks.

TUITION FEES

Graduate students of the partner institutes of LOT can participate free of charge (tuition fees and accommodation). For other participants the tuition fees are € 175 for one week and € 300 for two weeks.

Accommodation (including breakfast, lunch and dinner) at the Summer School venue is offered for € 37 – € 42 per person per night, depending on the type of room.

Participants who are not staying at the Summer School venue can sign up for lunch and refreshments during the coffee breaks for € 100 per week.

VENUE

The LOT school is being organized at La Foresta, a conference centre just outside Leuven (about 7 kilometers) in the middle of a forest. Leuven is a historical university town located 26 kilometers east of Brussels and is well connected with the rest of Belgium and neighboring countries.

From Brussels International Airport there is a direct train shuttle service to Leuven, which takes about 15 minutes. From the Leuven railway station, you can easily take a bus or a taxi to the venue.

Charleroi Airport («Brussels South») has a lot of RyanAir flights. From Charleroi there is a bus service to the railway station Brussel Zuid (Bruxelles Midi). From Brussels there are direct trains to Leuven (approx. 30 mins). You can consult the NMBS website for timetables.

Becas de máster y doctorado en Oxford

The Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics at the University of Oxford will
offer the Basant Kumar and Sarala Birla Graduate Studentship for DPhil study
beginning in 2011.  The Birla Studentship provides the full tuition and college fee, and
a maintenance grant commensurate to the national minimum doctoral stipend of the
UK Research Councils, for three years. All applicants are eligible.

We will also offer two AHRC Doctoral Studentships (funding for three years) and two
AHRC Master’s Studentships (funding for two years) for study beginning in 2011.
AHRC Studentships are held by students from the UK and EU: the studentship
covers full-time fees and maintenance for UK students, and fees only for EU
students outside the UK.

Clarendon Scholarships provide funding for study at Oxford by students from
countries outside the EU, and cover full-time fees and maintenance.  We anticipate
that we will be able to offer one or two Clarendon Scholarships for Master’s or DPhil
study in linguistics.

Students interested in being considered for these studentships must submit their
applications by 21 January 2011.  All applicants will be considered for the Birla
Studentship.  For the AHRC Studentships and Clarendon Scholarships, applicants
must indicate their interest on the application form.  For more information on graduate

XXIII. Romanistentag

The XXXII. Romanistentag is the biannual conference of the German Society of
Romance Languages (DRV) which will take place at Humboldt University Berlin
in September 2011 [25-28]. Among the 28 sections there will be 7 sections on
linguistics.

Italian (Dialects) in Diachrony conference (IDD)

LUCL Leiden, the Italian department of the University of Leiden, and the Marie Curie Foundation are happy to announce the first Italian (Dialects) in Diachrony conference (IDD) to be held at the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics on May 19-21, 2011.

The conference aims to create a platform for discussion between scholars looking at the diachrony of Italian and Italian dialects from different points of view.

Abstracts are invited for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for discussion) on any aspect of the history of Italian or Italian dialects. The conference languages are English and Italian. Authors are asked to submit their abstracts via Easy Abstracts (http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/IDD2011). Abstracts should be anonymous and are not to exceed two pages in length (including examples and references), 12-point type. Submissions are limited to 1 individual and 1 joint abstract per author, or 2 joint abstracts per author. Abstracts should arrive no later than 1 March 2011. Speakers will be notified of the results of their abstract review by March 22 2011.

Guarda. Revista de Lenguaje, Edición y Cultura Escrita

Páginas de Guarda. Revista de Lenguaje, Edición y Cultura Escrita invita a todos los interesados a presentar artículos para el número 12 (2011) de temática abierta.

Desde su inicio, en el año 2006, Páginas de Guarda ha pretendido dar cuenta de los aportes en el mundo del lenguaje, la edición y la cultura escrita, con un enfoque interdisciplinario. Su nombre hace referencia a la primera y última página que, en las ediciones antiguas o en las actuales de lujo, se utilizan por su mayor espesor y calidad para proteger el contenido de un libro. Porque a la manera de las páginas de guarda, queremos salvaguardar un lenguaje, el español; un oficio, el de editor, y una historia, la de la cultura escrita.

Para las distintas áreas, se sugieren los siguientes ejes orientadores:
